Trolling Reels

Trolling reels are used as it sounds for trolling. These reels are actually quite ordinary multi-reels, but with a deeper coil, which means that you get much more line. If you troll for salmon, for example, the fish have a tendency to rush very far and then a lot of line is required. Another feature that many trolling reels have is the counter, the counter shows how much line you have out and how far the fish is rushing. The most common is that the counters measure in feet (ft), but there are also a lot of trolling reels that now measure in meters (m).

Another feature found on these reels is the creak. It is a button that you activate the squeaker with and the advantage of it is that you can also hear the pacifier very clearly. Since you usually troll with several rods, the creak is important as you can quickly locate which rod it has grabbed.

Another advantage is that some of these reels have a so-called syncro function. This means that you crank half a revolution backwards with the crank and then the braking force is halved, this to increase the chance of catching the fish. Of course, you can troll with any reel, but the advantages of pure trolling reels are, as we mentioned, many.
