Casting Reels

Fishing with a multi-reel, also called a spinning reel, means that the reel sits on the top of the rod and for that you need a multi-rod/spinning rod. The advantage of multi-reels is that you disengage the entire reel and control the entire throw with your thumb, which means you can get much better precision throws. As you control everything with your thumb, it is also a very good advantage for heavier fishing. We all know how much pain you can get in your index finger from throwing heavy baits with a reel reel, so you avoid that with a multi reel.

More and more people are starting to use multi-reels even for the lighter fishing, as you have such control over the equipment. Sometimes it can be messy to throw light baits when it's windy, for example, but with the right settings on the reel it usually goes like a dance. Haven't you tried multi-reel fishing? Do it!

One thing to think about when you start fishing with multi-reels is to learn to master the brakes. If you have too loose a casting brake as a beginner, it is easy to get overspin on the spool and a big tangle is formed. Then simply start with a little resistance in the brakes so you get the finesse of using your thumb as a brake instead. Keep your thumb as close to the spool as possible to avoid possible line lifting. When you get the cut, just ease off the brakes gradually and thus get longer and longer casts.
