Fly Fishing Lines

Fly fishing lines are made in different weight classes, which in turn must match the rod you fish with. When fishing for trout, grayling and perch, for example, you don't want too light a line but not too coarse either. This class is called #5/6 and then it is important that both rod and line have this classification for as optimal a cast as possible.

There are, for example, different lengths of lumps. The lump is the part of the line with weight in it, a normal easily thrown length of the lump is about 8.5m. It is the lump that gives you power in the cast and can get the line out properly. After the lump comes the pull line as a result of the backing. Some ropes have a loop at both ends, others a loop at the front and some have no loop at all, then you have to put it there yourself.
