Fishing rod - Specimen

Fishing rods can be categorized into many different groups. In this tab we have collected specimen rods, such as carp rods, feeder rods and float fishing rods. The difference between these rods is quite large and is used for different types of fish. Unlike a "regular" fishing rod which is top knotted, these rods are designed with rings and reel mounts.

Carp rods are long, often 12ft and are meant to lie on a rod pod and rest while waiting for a bite. The carp rods are long to be able to control the fish easily and the reels for them are large to be able to hold a lot of line. These rods are therefore not something you stand and spin fish with, but simply for casting and drilling. These rods are available in different hardnesses and are then marked in "lb". These rods are for fishing specifically for carp.

Feeder rods are significantly lighter rods although these are also often upwards of 12ft. The idea with these rods is that they should rest against a bank stick, then you tension the line towards the bait. With the soft fiberglass tops that sit on these rods, you then get a bend in the direction of the sink/feeder basket/bait. The feeder top then acts as a pacifier indicator. When it twitches at the top, it's a fish and then you make a direct counterstab to hook the fish. These rods are for most types of "lighter" carp and whitefish.

Float fishing rods are often also made in the same lengths as the other rods. The difference is that the rods are very light and lack the soft tip. Here you want a fairly snappy rod to easily hook the fish when the float indicates fish. Unlike a regular top-knotted rod, these rods have a reel attachment and rings to be able to drill the fish properly through water lilies and other things that, for example, a carp likes to pull in. These rods are also not telescopic but divisible like normal reel rods. These rods are for most types of "lighter" carp and whitefish.
